The Spice girls are set to headline Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday concert this summer.
The former South African President is keen for the 90s girl band - who announced they will split again after their comeback world tour finishes this month - to perform one last time at the milestone event at London's Hyde Park in June.
A source said: "Nelson is desperate for them to sing one last time and he's confident it will happen. He first met the girls in 1997 and called them his heroes. He has deep admiration for them."
The group - Victoria Beckham, Mel B, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Mel C - were asked to perform at Mandela's 89th birthday celebrations last year but had to decline because of work commitments as well as Emma being heavily pregnant.
Mandela was first introduced to the girls in 1997, during the height of their fame, at his official presidential residence, Mahlamba Nalopfu, in Pretoria, South Africa.
Other stars set to take part in the celebrations include the Rolling Stones, Annie Lennox and U2 star Bono.Queen have also confirmed they will perform. Robbie Williams is rumoured to be planning to sing with the band dressed as their legendary frontman Freddie Mercury.

Beyonce Knowles's father has slammed legendary singer Aretha Franklin for her public comments criticising Beyonce's Grammy Awards performance.
Franklin was upset with Beyonce for calling her duet partner Tina Turner 'the queen', reports contactmusic.com. Franklin usually called the queen of soul music said that“I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyonce, however I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy,”

J.Lo’s having twins revealed by her dad
LOS ANGELES - Jennifer Lopez is having twins, the singer/actresses father, David Lopez told Escándalo TV.
The elder Lopez’s admission is the first official confirmation from the singer’s family.
"Yes, twins,” he told the Spanish language TV show, People reported. “The thing is in my family, my sister also had twins, so it's a hereditary thing," he said.
"In Puerto Rico it's custom to buy an azabache [jet black, stone] bracelet for babies to protect them from the evil eye, it's part of our culture," he said.

High School Musical stars Vanessa and Ashley share everything except Zac Efron

Memorial service attended byTom Cruise and Kate Holmes
On Saturday 2nd February, the Sony lot in L.A hosted a memorial service for Heath Ledger, among mourners and press, stars like Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, Sienna Miller, Ellen DeGeneres and director Todd Haynes turned up to pay their respects to the beloved Australian actor.
Holmes starred with Ledger’s ex-fiance Michelle Williams in US teen drama ‘Dawson’s Creek’, while Sienna Miller had worked with Heath on the film ‘Casanova’, she had also been romantically linked to the star.
A service also took place in New York city, which attracted over 1,000 mourners. Heaths body has been flown to his hometown of Perth, Australia where the family are to hold a private funeral.

Washington, Feb 3 : Britney's Beverly Hills mansion has reportedly been robbed off some valuable possessions, says a source close to the singer.
According to the source, the 26-year-old star's parents-Jamie and Lynne Spears, were "shocked" to find that the valuable items "had been stolen" after they returned home following an emergency hearing where Jamie was given legal control over Britney.
The 'Toxic' star's parents immediately called up the Los Angeles Police Department to file the report.
According to Jamie and Lynne Spears, the items were stolen after their daughter was taken to the UCLA Medical Center after her meltdown on Jan 31.
The report was confirmed by Los Angeles Police officer Alex Martinez whos aid that they had responded to a call at Spears' house, but did not know what exactly happened.
"The report is being processed through our system. We do not have access to it," he said.
In the hearing, Jamie won temporary legal control over his daughter and has been made the conservator of Britney's estate along with attorney Andrew Wallete.

It has been said that Madonna is the highest-earning woman in music.
Madonna who is 49 has topped the first Cash Queens of Music list, compiled by Forbes.com, after raking in $72 million.A large percentage came from her hugely successful Confessions tour, which earned more than £130million and saw the 49-year-old star appear in front of 1.2million fans in 60 shows. Some of the money also came from her clothing range with high street fashion store H&M.
Madonna, who is married to film director Guy Ritchie and has an estimated £220million fortune, is the world's most successful female singer, having sold 200million records since her 1982 debut.
Barbra Streisand is the second highest earning woman in music
The survey, by US-based business magazine Forbes, is the first to look at women's earnings in the music industry.
Barbra Streisand came second on the list, having earned £ 30million during her first worldwide tour since announcing her retirement in 2000.
At 65, she is the oldest star to be included.
Celine Dion took third place after making £22.6million from her series of nightly concerts at Caesar's Palace hotel in Las Vegas, which ended in December.
Spice Girls split up!!!
It has been reported that the Spice Girls are cutting short their reunion world tour and are said to be splitting up due to family and personal commitments.
A source has said that “Geri and Victoria have been loving the attention and adulation the tour has been bringing the girls in the UK and North America.
The UK band said they would end their tour in Toronto on 26 February, with planned shows in Beijing, Sydney, Cape Town and Buenos Aires being axed.
The shows had been originally scheduled for January but were postponed after the London leg of the tour was extended and will not now be rescheduled.
Could the real reason be that there has been a lack of interest in some of the venues as the band have failed to live up to their hype.

I arrived at Leavesden Studios just outside London where it looks like an old airport hangar from the outside (which it actually used to be!). When I went inside, the first person I got to talk to was none other than DANIEL RADCLIFFE! He looked so cute, smiling as he walked in to talk to me, wearing a grey v-neck sweater over a white collared shirt and a tie with the Gryffindor colors.
I knew right away that Dan was in character. He was so cute, laughing and semi-blushing when I asked him about all the CRUSHING that goes on in this movie. If you’ve read the book, you know what I’m talking about. But if you haven’t, don’t fret, I’ve got ALL THE SECRETS about the movie in upcoming issues of BOP and Tiger Beat magazines. I’ll tell you this much right now - Dan LOVES how romantic this sixth movie in the series is! “A kissing scene was filmed on our third day of shooting,” Dan tells me. He also gave me what REALLY GOES ON behind the scenes of the Harry Potter movies, like what the cast does for fun (I found out Emma Watson beat all the boys at table tennis), and what other characters the actors would want to play (Rupert Grint told me it’d be fun to be a bad guy like Draco Malfoy).
