After forty-five days in release, The Dark Knight continues to make movie history!

Batman's rich alter-ego Bruce Wayne has added half a billion dollars to his riches. "The Dark Knight" on Sunday became the second movie in Hollywood history to top $500 million at the domestic box office, raising its total to $502.4 million, according to estimates from distributor Warner Bros.

The Batman sequel has raked in over $502.4 million in just over six weeks - half the time it took Titanic, which reached the half-billion mark in a little more than three months the AP reported.

The movie ranks second behind Titanic's $601 million gross.

Dan Fellman, head of distribution at Warner Bros., said he expects The Dark Knight to finish at about $530 million, though it could reach $550 million.

"I keep raising the number because it just keeps holding better than expected," Fellman told the AP.

The Dark Knight is expected to reach about $505 million by Labor Day, the AP reported.

The Dark Knight have set another by earning $400 million in just 18 days!! It took the previous record-holder, Shrek 2, 43 days to cross the $400 million mark. On Monday, Warner Bros. told US Magazine that the thriller — starring the late Heath Ledger as the Joker — had raked it $400.3 million. The movie is currently No. 8 on the all-time box-office charts and is expected to move to No. 7 today.

"It's wonderful!" Christian Bale recently told Usmagazine of the movie's box office success. "But I'm not a business man. I just enjoy doing what I do and whatever happens after that is gravy.

"I hope people are as excited about the movie as I am," he added. "The good thing is I don't feel like a con man. The movie really does live up to the hype."

Christian Bale says arrest is 'a deeply personal matter'

His latest film may have just taken a record-breaking $155m at the US box-office during its opening weekend but Christian Bale ran into trouble when he was arrested about an alleged assault earlier this week.He was later released on bail until September pending further inquiries.

The Welsh-born multi-millionaire was arrested after a row with his mother Jenny, 61, and sister Sharon, 41, in a London hotel on Sunday - the night before the West End premiere of his film the Dark Knight.

The argument allegedly broke out after the two women asked him to lend Sharon £100,000 so she could bring up her three children. Sources also claimed Jenny, a former circus clown, insulted her son's wife Sibi, 38. Bale, 34, has denied the allegations through his lawyer. Speaking at the Barcelona premiere of the box-office hit film, he said he wanted to focus on promoting the film.

He said, "It's a deeply personal matter. I would ask you to respect my privacy in the matter."

According to TMZ, When Christian’s mom and dad divorced nearly two decades ago, his mom forced him to choose between the two. Christian picked his dad, and father and son moved out to L.A. in 1992, where his dad became his manager.

Somehow Bale’s relationship with the mom has been “bitter” ever since. Bale has told friends his mother was extremely jealous of both his and his dad’s success.
